The Legros Law Firm Internship Program was founded by Attorney Evans J. Legros in 2005. The program was created in order to provide Pre-Law, current, and post law students with a legal foundation into the practice of law through professional development and practical guidance. Since its inception in 2005, after a competitive interview process, the program typically accepts two (2) to three (3) interns per academic calendar year in order to experience the legal field, and to shadow the attorney to court, pro-bono events, volunteer, legal bar association functions, as well as to legal networking events. Once accepted into the program, Legal Interns attend an Orientation program, and are then fully on-boarded into the internship process at the office.
Legal Interns are set to a flexible seasonal session of several weeks or months, and are expected to assist, and observe the Attorney and/or Legal Assistant in conducting client intake, telephone intake, scheduling office appointments, and maintaining the file system. Legal Interns learn how to prepare court evidence, agreements, contracts & forms; and also become experienced in conduct internet based research, file documents at various courts, and interact with judges, private bar, and government attorneys. All work is closely supervised by the attorney and/or Legal Assistant.
At least two (2) Evaluations (mid-point & final) are conducted throughout the rigorous program, and a Certificate of Appreciation is awarded at the successful close of the program. At the annual Legros Law Firm Intern Appreciation Brunch, all previous interns typically attend to meet & greet the current interns, and to impart real-life wisdom of their experiences while preparing for the Law School Admission Test (L.S.A.T.), applying to law schools, attending law school, other legal work and internship experiences. Recommendations are provided upon request, and are based on the final evaluation.
